Happy Independence Day Finland! This morning is stunningly beautiful (just missing the snow) so I wanted to post a Christmas star that I made yesterday for our living room window.
I found the instructions for this from Saga advent calendar last Sunday, but I couldn't open the instructions on my mobile on the 5th (the instructions were in the calendar on the 4th) so my dear friend Google found the instructions for me from Suomela.fi website. The instructions are in Finnish, so here is super quick English instruction: you need 6-8 deli bags, which you glue together from the bottom and in the middle (along the seam/meeting/joint whatever you call it in English). Then you cut triangles away from the top (which you haven't glued) to make the points of the star. Finally you simply open the star. There are good photos on the website so if my instructions doesn't make sense, take a look at the pics. ;) This is super easy and quick to make even with kids. I'm sure any paperbags will work so you don't necessarily need to use deli bags, but these are cheap and the light comes beautifully through the paper. I hung the star with white thread so when you look at it a bit further away it looks like the star is just floating in the air.
