Voimataulu - Mindful Me

Tänään näytän teille voimatauluni, jonka tein Kit & Clowderin "Mindful Me" -kurssin innoittamana. Ihana Alyce (Kit & Clowderin omistaja) antoi kurssin viime vuoden lopulla joululahjaksi kaikille yhteisössään, mutta näin kauan kesti ennen kuin sain taulun lopulta valmiiksi. Mutta hyvää kannattaa odottaa - olen tähän ihan supertyytyväinen! :)

Jos et muuten ole vielä tutustunut Kit & Clowderiin, mutta tykkäät värittää, niin voin lämpimästi suositella Kit & Clowderin online-värityskursseja. Tekniikkakursseilla saa henkilökohtaista palautetta omista väritystöistä ja Alyce on paitsi todella hyvä opettaja, mutta äärettömän sydämellinen ja antelias ihminen. Itse epäröin pitkän aikaa ennen kuin kurssille ensimmäistä kertaa uskaltauduin, mutta ihan suotta epäröin. Hinta-laatusuhde on kursseissa parempi kuin hyvä ja kursseja voi suorittaa täysin oman aikataulun mukaan. Ainoa ongelma on, että nälkä kasvaa syödessä ja omalla toivelistalla on jo enemmän kursseja kuin ehdin tehdä... :) Ai niin, jos joku miettii, niin tämä ei ole maksettu mainos vaan vilpitön tyytyväisen asiakkaan kommentti.

Today I'm sharing with you my Mindful Me "power wall piece" that I made inspired by "Mindful Me" class at Kit & Clowder. The ever so sweet Alyce (Kit & Clowder's owner) gave the class as a freebie for Christmas 2015 to Kit & Clowder members. It took a while before I managed to finish this, but it was worth taking the time - I'm super happy with this.

By the way, if you are not familiar with Kit & Clowder, but you love to colour, I recommend you head over to Kit & Clowder website and check their online classes. You get personal feedback on technique classes and Alyce is not only really good teacher, but one of the most generous and sweet persons I know. It took me a long time to enroll on my first class, but the only thing I regret is that I postponed my participation for so long. The price-quality ratio is beyond good and you can take all the time you need for taking a class so there is no time presure either. The only problem I have, is that there are so many fantastic classes and so little time to do all... :) Oh, and if somebody wonders, this is not a paid advertisement, but a comment by really satisfied customer.

Taulu on kirjoitusalusta (eli suunnilleen A4-kokoinen), jonka tuunasin monella tavalla. Aluksi pohjamaalasin koko homman turkoosilla askartelumaalilla, sitten levitin päälle liimaa ja valkeaa askartelumaalia. Ajatuksena oli tehdä vähän sellaista feikkipuu-pintaa, mutta suunnitelmat muuttuivat matkan varrella ja päädyinkin maalaamaan koko komistuksen vihreällä maalilla. Jätin tarkoituksella paksut liimajäljet pohjalle, että sain vähän elävyyttä pintaan. En kuitenkaan ollut tyytyväinen pelkkään vihreään, joten päätin sitten lisäillä vähän sitä sun tätä askartelumaalivarastoista - sellaisia itseäni miellyttäviä värejä toki tietenkin. Lopulta tauluun päätyi vähän kultaa, vähän pronssia, vähän punaista, vähän lisää turkoosia hopealla tuunattuna ja turkoosia kullalla tuunattuna. Keskikohdan jätin sentään vihreäksi. :)

This wall piece is originally a drawing board (approximately A4), which I've tuned in different ways... First I painted the whole thing in turquoise, then I added some glue and painted on white. My idea was to make it look like faux wood, but the plans changed and I ended up painting the whole thing in green. I left the thick glue marks be so that I got a bit texture. However, I wasn't happy with the all-green, so I decided to add a little bit of this and little bit of that - though of course only colours that I really like. The final piece ended having some gold, some copper, some red, some more turqoise mixed with silver and some turqoise mixed with gold. And the centre part was left green. :)

Kuva on Yampuffin "Artist" ja se tuli kurssin mukana ilmaiseksi. Väritin kuvan Copiceilla ja ProMarkereilla. Leikkasin kuvan ääriviivoja myöten saksien ja sormiveitsen avulla, joten sain pienetkin koloset leikattua auki. Vaikka toki oppimista tässä värittämisessä vielä riittää, niin tähän kuvaan olen kyllä sangen tyytyväinen. :)

The image is "Artist" by Yampuff and it came with the class. I coloured her with Copics and ProMarkers and fussy cut with scissors and a finger knife so I managed to cut even the smallest holes. Although I'm still quite beginner in colouring, I'm really happy with this image. :)

Lisäsin tauluun myös "lupalapun itselleni" - tämä idea on myös suoraan tuolta kurssilta. Mustetin paperin Distress Inkin vihreillä musteilla ja ressasin reunoja saksilla. Yhden kulman käänsin vielä niin, että asettui nätisti kuvan kanssa. Jätin paperin tarkoituksella kiinnittämättä - eli sitä pitää paikoillaan tuo alustan klipsu. Tämä ihan sen takia, että tekstiä voi muuttaa fiiliksen mukaan.

I added also a permission slip for myself - this idea is also directly from the class. I inked the paper with Distress Inks and distressed the edges with scissors. I also rolled one of the corners so that it aligned nicely with the image. I didn't attach the paper on the board so it's hold only by the clip. I made this on purpose so that I can change the text if I feel like there should be some other text than this at some point.

Lisäsin koristeeksi erilaisia pieniä asioita, jotka jollain tavalla ovat itselleni merkityksellisiä. Ruusut ovat ihania niin paperisina kuin aitoinakin, joten niitä piti laittaa monenvärisinä. Värjäsin paperiruusut Derwentin Inktense -kynillä ja säiliösiveltimellä. Ompelukone on muistuttamassa käsitöistä ja pora sisustushommista, joihin olisi kyllä taitoa, mutta nykyään vähän vähemmän intoa...

I added various small embellies, which remind me of some important things. Roses are just wonderful whether they are real or made of paper, so I added them in several colours and sizes. I coloured the paper roses with Derwent Inktense pencils and a wet brush. The sewing machine is here to remind me of handicrafts and the drill of interior decoration skills I have, but haven't used much lately...

Lopuksi lisäsin vielä avaimen ja lukon muistuttamaan rakkaudesta ja sitoutumisesta sekä pari huopalehteä muistuttamaan luonnosta (ruusujen lisäksi). Ja koska tämä on voimataulu ja olen aina diggaillut sisiliskoista, niin eihän tämä taulu olisi ollut täydellinen ilman vihreää glitterliskoa. ;D

Finally I added a lock and a key to remind me of love and commitment as well as felt leaves to remind me of nature (in addition to roses). And since this is my "power wall piece" and I've been always fond of small lizards, I just had to add a green glitter lizzard. ;D

Sininen taulu

Lupasin äidilleni jo viime syksynä, että teen hänelle jossain vaiheessa sinisävyisen taulun. Taulu on hautunut takaraivossa, mutta inspiraatio ei ole iskenyt niin, että olisin saanut sitä valmiiksi asti ennen kuin nyt.

Kuva on Delicious Doodlesin "Sunset at Sea", jonka väritin ProMarkereilla. Kehystin kuvan passepartout-kehyksellä, jonka mustetin erilaisilla sinisillä musteilla ja värittelin vähän Derwent Inktense -kynillä. Leimasin Dream ja Love -tekstit irtoleimasinkirjaimilla sinisellä musteella ja pyyhkäisin vähän Sticklesiä sinne tänne. Kehystin myös kuvan yläreunan ja sivut Sticklesillä (baby blue). Kehyksen alareunaan kiinnitin turkoosinsinistä kuitukangasta. Koristeena ääriviivatarroja (let your heart soar ja sydämet), muovinen liskokoriste sekä Marianne Designsin stanssilla leikatut simpukat, jotka väritin Derwentin Inktense -kynillä sinisen eri sävyihin.

Today I'm sharing with you a wall decoration piece that I made for my mum. I had promised her a blue wall decoration piece already last year, but it's been waiting for the inspiration. The image is "Sunset at Sea" by Delicious Doodles and I coloured it with ProMarkers. I framed the image with passepartout that I inked with various blue inks. I used also some Derwent Inktense pencils in colouring the frame. I stamped the Dream and Love texts by using loose letter stamps and added a touch of Stickles here and there. I framed the top and the sides of the image also with Stickles (baby blue). I added some turquoise non-woven fabric on the bottom of the frame and used some silver peel-off stickers and a lizzard button as embellies. The peel-off sticker text says "let your heart soar". I added also few seashells cut with Marianne Design's dies.

Vuoden 2015 suosikit / My favourites 2015

Nyt on vuorossa taas pitkä postaus, joten otapa kuppi kuumaa ja mukava asento. / This one is going to be a looooong post, so grab a cuppa and make yourself comfortable.

On taas se aika vuodesta, kun on hyvä katsahtaa hieman menneeseen ja kiinnittää erityisesti huomio hyvään. Tässä postauksessa nostan esiin omat suosikkini askartelutöistäni kuluneelta vuodelta. Valinta oli yllättävän vaikea, kylläpäs olikin taas tullut tehtyä monenlaista. :) Työt esiintyvät tässä kronologisessa järjestyksessä, vanhin ensin.

It is again that time of the year when it's good to stop and look back - and pay attention especially on the good things you've encountered during the year. In this post I highlight my favourites among my crafting during this year. It was surprisingly difficult to pick only ten - oh boy I've done so much! :) These are in chronological order - oldest first.

Ensimmäisenä on lahjalaatikko, jonka tein Open-Minded Crafting Fun -haasteen DT työnä. Aiheena oli inspiroitua elokuvasta ja kuten kuvasta ehkä käy ilmi, minua innoitti Moulin Rouge. Lisää kuvia ja koko postaus on luettavissa "OMCF #28 Movie Inspiration - DT post" -postauksesta.

This one is a gift box I made as DT work for Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenges. The theme was "Movie inspiration" and as you may see from the photo, my inspiration was Moulin Rouge. More pictures and the complete post can be seen here: OMCF #28 Movie Inspiration - DT post.

Tämän kortin tein kummityttömme synnyttyä. Keskeltä aukeava kaksipuolinen kortti on koristeltu niin sisä- kuin ulkopuoleltakin ja vihreä-valkoinen väritys on mielestäni sangen onnistunut. Kortista lisää kuvia ja tekstiä täällä: Pienen prinsessan perheelle.

I made this card when my goddaughter was born. The gatefold card is decorated both outside and inside and I really like the green-and-white colour scheme. More pictures and information here: Pienen prinsessan perheelle.

Tämä kortti on ehkä yksi kaikkien aikojen suosikeistani, vaikka loppujen lopuksi se ei ole mikään ihmeellinen. Olen kuitenkin aivan lääpälläni tuohon kuvaan ja sen värityskin onnistui ihan kohtuullisesti. Vihreä ja valkoinen värimaailma - joskin tässä lämpimämmän sävyisenä kuin ylläolevassa kortissa - on myös yksi suosikeistani. Lisää kortista täällä: Pienen lohharin henkäisy.

This card may be one of my all time favourites, even though it's not that special. I'm completely in love with that image and I'm quite happy with the colouring. The green-and-white colour scheme (although in warmer shades than in the card above) is also one of my favourites. More about this card here: Pienen lohharin henkäisy.

Toinen laatikko - ja toinen DT työ. Open-Minded Crafting Fun -haasteen aiheena oli kierrätys, joten minä ryhdyin tuumasta toimeen ja vanha pelilaatikko sai uuden ilmeen. Erityisen tyytyäinen olen kuvan väritykseen, josta parempia kuvia postauksessa: OMCF #34 Recycle something - DT post.

Another box - and another DT work. Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenge had the theme "Recycle something" so I did. An old game box got a new look and here's the end-result. I'm particularly happy with the colouring of the image - you'll see better pictures of it here: OMCF #34 Recycle something - DT post.

Seuraavana vuorossa on taulu. Värimaailma minulle täysin vieras enkä ollut tauluja ennen tätä tehnyt, mutta tykkään lopputuloksesta ihan mielettömän paljon. Taulu päätyi lahjaksi kummitädilleni, jota ajattelin jostain syystä erityisen paljon tätä tehdessäni. Next one is a wall decoration piece. The colour scheme is really odd for me and this was the first wall decoration/picture I've made, but I really, really like how this turned out. I gave this as a gift to my godmother as I kept thinking of her all the time when I made this. Luckily she really liked this too. :) This is again one of my Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenges DT work. The theme was "Inspired by a song". Tähän perään heti toinen taulu. Tuon ensimmäisen innoittaman tein useammankin, tämä on kuitenkin ainoa, joka on päätynyt kotiin esille. Näin jälkikäteen ajateltuna kuvan tausta on turhan valkea, mutta ainakin kuva erottuu hyvin. :) Tässä työssä tykkään erityisesti värimaailmasta ja olen kovin tyytyväinen kuvan väritykseen. And another wall decoration piece. After the purple one I made couple more, but this one is the only one I've actually put on a visible place at home. Now afterwards I think the background of the image is a bit too white, but at least the image pops up. :) In this work I like especially the colour scheme and I'm really happy with the colouring of the image. Sitten taas jotain erilaista - nimittäin tägi. Olen erittäin tyytyväinen tähän kokonaisuuteen, vaikka värimaailma on jälleen vieras. Lisää tägin synnystä täällä: Tägi Oddballin tytöllä.

And then something different - a tag. I'm really happy with this, although the colour scheme is again quite strange for me. More about how this tag was born and made here: Tägi Oddballin tytöllä.

What would a favourites post be without a wedding card? I like the layers and the fact that I managed to get so many things in this card. Also the blue-white-brown colour scheme is quite pretty. More about this card here: Shabby Chic hääkortti.

Loppuvuotta kohti innostuin kirjanmerkeistä. Tässä olen erityisen tyytyväinen kuvan väritykseen. Täältä voit lukea lisää tästä Trick or Treat -kirjanmerkistä.

Towards the end of the year I got excited about bookmarks again. In this one I'm particularly happy with the colouring of the image. You can see more about it here: Trick or Treat.

Myös viimeinen työ on kirjanmerkki. Tämä edustaa nyt sitten vähän miehisempää linjaa, jota voisi kyllä suosia töissä vähän enemmänkin. Jotenkin aika vähän tulee edelleen tehtyä kortteja, kirjanmerkkejä tai mitään muutakaan miehille... Also my last choice is a bookmark. This one represents the male themed works, which I have way too few. Somehow it's always so difficult to make cards or bookmarks or anything else for men... In this one I like the colour scheme, the colouring of the image and the speech bubble. More about this bookmark here: Mitä luet?.

Lasinalunen huovasta

Tänään on vähän erilaista askartelua luvassa, sillä materiaalina on huopa.

Today I'm not sharing any paper crafts with you. Instead I made a coaster out of felt.

Stanssassin NellieSnellenin ympyrästanssilla kaksi punaista huopaympyrää ja yhden valkoisen. Lisäksi stanssasin Sizzixin sydänstanssilla valkoisesta huovasta sydämen. Liimasin Erikeeperillä ympyrät yhteen niin, että valkoinen ympyrä on punaisten välissä - ja samaisella liimalla kiinnitin myös valkoisen sydämen. Saa nähdä miten liima kestää käytössä... Lopuksi vielä tikkasin käsin ommellen punavalkoisella leipurinnyörillä alusen reunat, niin pysyy ainakin reunat siistinä.

I cut two red and one white felt circle with NellieSnellen circle die. In addition I used a Sizzix die to cut a heart out of white felt. I glued the pieces together so that the white felt circle was between the red ones. I also glued the heart on the red circle. Time will tell how the glue holds... Finally I stitched some red-and-white bakers twine around the coaster edge. The stitches are naturally a decoration, but also keeping the edges together in case the glue doesn't hold in the long run.

Tässä kuvassa näkyy tuo valkoinen välikerros punaisten huopaympyröiden välissä. Huopaa oli ohuilla stansseilla hieman haastava leikata - aika monta kertaa sai mankeloida Big Shotista läpi, vaikka huopa olikin ohutta. Sydän ei itse asiassa sitten ihan täysin edes leikkaantunut, joten viimeistelin saksilla loput - siksi tuo ei ole ihan siisti.

In this photo you'll see the white middle layer. I have to say that it was a bit tricky to cut felt with thin dies - I had to put them throught the Big Shot several times even though the felt was thin. And actually I needed to finish the heart with scissors, that's why it's not so neat. 

Tässä vielä alusen alapuoli. Sen siis jätin paljaaksi - koristeena ainoastaan tuo reunan tikkaus. Paksulla puuvillalangalla tikkaaminen oli suht hidasta hommaa, mutta kivannäköinen siitä toki tuli. Mietin, että jos näitä innostuisi tekemään vaikka ihan sarjan, niin kannattaisi ehkä kaivaa ompelukone kaapista, niin sillä surauttelisi vähän nopeammin, vaikka toki tikkaukset tulisivat ohuemmalla langalla.

Here is the backside of the coaster. I didn't use any decorations there as it's meant to be towards the table anyway and thus not visible. The stitches however bring a bit of decorative element to backside too. Stitching with thick cotton twine was really slow, but it looks really nice. However, I was thinking that if I made several of these, I'd probably use sewing machine even though the stitches would be with thinner thread.

Naamioiden aika

Ystäväni järjestivät naamiaiset - siis Venetsialais-tyyliset, jossa pukeutuminen oli vapaata, mutta jokaisella piti olla naamio. Tämmöisenä väkertäjänä naamio piti tietenkin tuunata itse, mutta ajanpuutteen vuoksi en kuitenkaan alkanut paperimassaa itse väsäämään vaan tyydyin valmiiseen silmikkopohjaan, jonka ostin Sinellistä.

My friends arranged masquarade some time ago and although costume wasn't required, everyone needed to have a mask. Naturally I wanted to make my own mask, but I due to lack of time I took a short cut and bought a ready-made base for the mask.

Halusin tehdä naamiosta epäsymmetrisen, joten rajasin ensin tuon kultaisen alueen lyijykynällä silmikkopohjaan. Sen jälkeen maalasin Plus Color -askartelumaalilla siniset osat. Vahasin aluksi InkaGoldilla tuon kultaisen osan (sävyllä Antique Silver), mutta se jäi vähän turhan haaleaksi, joten vedin lopulta päälle kultamaalia. Reunustin värialueen kaksipuolisella tarrateipillä, jonka pintaan sirottelin sitten reilusti kultaista glitteriä. Tarrateippi oli ainakin tässä tapauksessa mielestäni helpompi tarttumapinta glitterille kuin liima. Liimankin kanssa sain näprätä ihan riittävästi, kun kiinnitin kultaisia ja sinisiä strasseja silmäaukkojen reunoille.

Although I'm usually a big fan of symmetry, this time I wanted to be a bit different. So I draw with a pencil the boarders for the golden area before painting rest of the mask in blue with Plus Color paint. Then I used Inka Gold wax (colour Antique Silver) for the golden part, but it wasn't golden enough so eventually I painted it with gold paint. I used some strong double-sided tape on the edge of the golden area and covered it with golden glitter. I thought that tape is easier than glue in this use and it really was easy. I did use glue as well to attach the blings and feathers.

Sinisellä osalla on lisäksi kaksi ääriviivatarraperhosta. Höyhenet on kierrätetty virpomavitsoista ja höyhenten "kantojen" päälle liimasin vielä ison strassin.

The blue part has also two golden peel-off sticker butterflies. The feathers are recycled from some Easter decoration. I used a big plastic bling to hide the stems of the feathers.

Silmikossa oli valmiina kiinni valkoinen kuminauha, joka näkyy tässäkin kuvassa. Olisin alunperin halunnut sinistä samettinauhaa kiinnitykseen, mutta en sitten jaksanut vaihtaa tuota kuminauhaa, kun vähän kiireessä tätä tein. Naamiaisissa hiukseni joka tapauksessa peittivät tuon kiinnityksen, joten kuminauhaa ei näkynyt - ja onhan tuo silmikko sen avulla helppo laittaa päähän.

The mask had a white elastic band ready for fastening. I was originally planning to have a blue velvet ribbon instead, but eventually I kept the elactic band as I was in a hurry. In the masquarade my hair came on top of the elastic band anyway so it wasn't visible. And I have to say that it was really easy to wear.

OMCF #38 "Doodle" - DT post

So it's been again two weeks since my last DT post for Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenges. That means that we'll have a new challenge starting today. The theme for our challenge is...

I haven't been a big fan of doodling after my school days, but now I got a bit excited and made two different creations. I'll post the other one today and the other one next Saturday.

So, the image is "Flower Shop" by Scribbles Designs, who is one of our generous sponsors, and I coloured it with ProMarkers. And yes, this is another piece of wall art... :) I told you already in my previous DT post that I got addicted. But don't worry, my next post will be something different. *lol* This is again one of those passepartout frames - this time it was originally black. I used some white gel pen for doodling and added some paperflowers (both readymade and punched) to bring some colour and added dimension to the frame. I used some sticker blings as the centres of the flowers.

Tänään alkaa taas uusi haaste Open-Minded Crafting Fun -haasteblogissa ja aiheena on "doodle". Eli siis doodlaus, sellainen piirtely mitä varmaan suurin osa on joskus kouluaikoinaan vihkon tai konseptipaperin reunaan tehnyt. Itse en ole kouluaikojen jälkeen paljon doodlaillut, mutta nyt sitten hieman innostuin ja tein kaksi eri projektia tähän haasteeseen. Julkaisen tänään niistä ensimmäisen ja viikon päästä lauantaina seuraa sitten toinen työ perässä, joten tulethan vilkaisemaan silloinkin!

Piirtelin kehykseen valkealla geelikynällä ja lisäsin lisukkeeksi hieman paperikukkia (sekä valmiita kukkia että lävistäjällä tehtyjä), jotta sain vähän väriä ja kolmiulotteisuutta kehykseen. Lisukkeena vain vähän tarrablingejä kukkien keskustoina.

Työni ei ole ehkä ihan minun normaalia tyyliäni (jos minulla nyt sellaista ylipäänsä on), mutta tykkään lopputuloksesta yllättävän paljon. Aurinkoisen kesäinen taulu

Tuossa joku aika sitten tein perhostaulun Open-Minded Crafting Fun -haasteen DT-työnä ja taisinpa silloin kirjoittaa jääneeni pienimuotoisesti koukkuun... Tässä yksi tuon koukuttumisen tulos.

Kuvana on suloinen Aurora Wingsin "Linnea Sprite", joka oli joku aika sitten Aurora Wingsin Facebook-ryhmässä ilmaiskuvana, kun ryhmässä juhlistettiin AW:n kaksivuotista taivalta Etsyssä. Tulostin kuvan melko suurena, jotta se täyttää valtaosan 12x17cm kuva-alueesta. Väritin kuvan ProMarkereilla ja olen kyllä oikein tyytyväinen väritykseen. :) Kehys on siis jälleen passepartout-kehys, jonka ulkomitat on 18x24cm. Värjäsin kehyksen askartelumaaleilla - keltaista ja punaista useassa kerroksessa. Lisukkeena ProMarkereilla värjättyjä paperikukkia, erilaisia haaraniittejä kukkien keskustoina sekä sekalainen sakki ötökkäkoristeita.

I posted some time ago a butterfly picture/board/wall art (whatever would be the right name for this kind of creation..?), which I made as a DT work for Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenge. I wrote already then that I got a bit addicted and well, here is another decorative item.

The image is sweet "Linnea Sprite" by Aurora Wings and I coloured it with ProMarkers. This image was a freebie at Aurora Wings Facebook group during 2 years in Etsy celebrations. I printed the image quite large so that it fits nicely in the 12x17cm picture area. The frame is again passepartout frame, size 18x24cm. I coloured it with some basic crafting paints - yellow and red in several layers. In addition paper flowers coloured with ProMarkers, different kinds of brads as the centres of the flowers and various bug embellies.

OMCF #37 "Inspired By A Song" - DT post

Welcome to another challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenges! The theme for this fortnight is...

  You know, I mainly make cards, sometimes book marks and then I decorate notebooks or recycle old boxes etc. So stuff that one can actually use. I don't do decorative items simply because I just don't. I don't have any place to put them and I don't know to whom I could give those. So I stay on the safe zone and make usable things. Until now. And I might have got addicted... :D So here is my make for this challenge as DT.

It all started from a cheap blank white picture frame (passe-partout), which I've bought for my woodcut prints, but I never used. I thought that this beautiful Butterfly by Sentimental Susan - who is one of our sponsors and generously provided me with this image - would look pretty cool if framed.  So I printed it quite large and coloured with ProMarkers before fussy cutting it. Then I used various inks in blue, violet, gray, green and black to ink the frame. The frame is 18x24 cm large and the picture area is 12x17 cm. On the background I used DP by DCWV (from their The Christmas and The Winter 180 Stack) and a black weathered clock, which was cut by Tim Holtz/Sizzix die. I covered the die cut with Stickles Rock Candy - though only after glueing it in place so it was quite a pain to add the Rock Candy without complete mess. Note to self: in the future stay on the safe zone when it comes to Rock Candy add that stuff before attaching the element on the background! I added some black lace between the DP and the frame before attaching them together. I used some metallic corners, paper roses in various sizes (some of them coloured with ProMarkers), washi tape and decorative pin with some additional pearls and beads. I finished the frame with some gems in different sizes. 

 
Finally I attached the butterfly so that I used some double-sided tape under the body and 1,5 mm 3D foam pads under the wings. Or well, actually I used the foam pads only close to the body and left rest of the wings "fly" free. :) I think I got nice 3D effect - what do you think?

Oh, and the song I was inspired by you may ask? "Butterfly" by Crazy Town. It's not only the obvious element - the butterfly - that's inspired by the song, but the whole creation. The choice of colours came to me thanks to the feeling in that song and well, I just had to make it beautiful despite the darkness, so hence the flowers, blings etc. The colours are definitely not from my usual colour palette, but if you go out of your comfort zone anyway then why not do it properly. *lol*

No niin, seuraavat kaksi viikkoa Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenges -haasteessa askarrellaan teemalla "Inspired by a Song" eli laulusta pitäisi hakea inspiraatiota. Oman työni innoittajana toimi Crazy Townin "Butterfly" eikä inspiraatio rajoitu vain siihen ilmiselvään elementtiin (eli perhoseen) vaan koko työ on kyseisen kipaleen inspiroima. Värit valikoituivat laulun tunnelman innoittamana ja vaikka sanoissa on tiettyä synkkyyttä, niin siinähän ylistetään naisen kauneutta, joten siksi ruusut, blingit ynnä muut. Värivalikoima ei ole ehkä minulle tyypillisin, mutta tässä työssä olin muutenkin niin ulkona omalta mukavuusalueeltani, että annoin sitten palaa kerralla kunnolla. *lol*

Eli minähän teen pääasiassa kortteja ja joskus kirjanmerkkejä sekä tuunaan muistikirjoja ja lahjalaatikoita. Siis käyttötavaroita. Koriste-esineet eivät repertuaariin juurikaan kuulu - ei minulla ole niille mitään paikkaa enkä oikein tiedä, että mitä niillä sitten tekisin. Mutta nyt sitten otin ja tein taulun, kun nurkissa pyöri ylimääräinen passe-partout-kehys. Niin ja taisin jäädä nyt sitten vähän koukkuun. Haaveilen jo ison kanvaasitaulun teosta. Ups. :D

Niin, kaikki alkoi siis tuosta passe-partout-kehyksestä sekä sponsorimme Sentimental Susanin upeasta Butterfly -digistä, jonka sain käyttööni DT-työtä varten. Tulostin perhosen melko isona, väritin ProMarkereilla ja leikkasin ääriviivoja myöten irti. Sen jälkeen värjäsin 18x24cm-kokoisen kehyksen sekalaisella seurakunnalla erilaisia musteita (kehyksen kuva-alue on 12x17cm). On sinistä, violettia, vihreää, harmaata ja mustaa - kaikkia merkkejä en edes muista, mutta osa oli Distress Inkin musteita. Taustalla on DCWV:n kuviopaperia The Christmas and The Winter 180 -lehtiöstä sekä Tim Holtzin/Sizzixin stanssilla leikattu Weathered Clock kuvio. Kuorrutin kellotaulun vielä Sticklesin Rock Candyllä - tosin vasta sen jälkeen, kun olin kiinnittänyt sen jo taustapaperiin. Note to self: jatkossa lisää se Rock Candy, kun kuvio on vielä irti - vähemmän sotkua ja päänsärkyä. Sujautin vähän mustaa pitsiä kuviopaperin ja kehyksen väliin ennen kuin kiinnitin kuviopaperin kehykseen kaksipuoleisella voimateipillä. Lisukkeena kehys sai pintaansa pari metallikulmaa, paperiruusuja (osa värjätty ProMarkereilla), washiteippiä ja erikokoisia blingejä. Lisäksi pujotin kukkien sekaan vielä koristeneulan, johon lisäsin vähän erilaisia irtohelmiä. Lopuksi sitten itse kuva kehyksiin. Perhosen vartalo on kiinni taustassa voimateipillä ja siipien tyvessä on 1,5 mm kohotarrapalat. Siipien loppuosa on irti, joten tauluun tuli kiva 3D-efekti. :)
