My sister started a long journey to another continent so I wanted to give her a travel journal to write down thoughts and collect memories. When me and my husband travelled around the World we had a travel journal with plastic pockets for tickets, maps and so on, but I haven't seen one like that for years. So for my sister I decided to make one with Bind-It-All.
"Lucy Loo backpacker". Puukoristeet ostin kesällä Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft -liikkeestä Yhdysvalloista.
The DP is from Tahiti Beach Stack by DCWV and I stamped some travel themed images with AladinE's stamps. The main image is gorgeous "Lucy Loo backpacker" by The East Wind. The wooden decorations I bought form Jo-Ann's during the summer when visiting USA.
Here is a close-up of Lucy Loo, which I coloured with ProMarkers. For the background I used Distress Ink "Tea Dye".
The inside cover has a small pocket and globe decoration. I wrote a greeting to my sister with silver marker on top of the cover before giving the book to her, but I took the photo already before writing it.
Here you can see the backcover from the inside. I made a bigger pocket from the DP on the backcover and here you can also see one of the plastic pockets I placed in the book. This is a ready-made pocket for a folder and I cut the ready-made holes away from it and the re-punched the pocket with BIA. However, I had some real trouble punching the plastic since the plastic was so thin. Then I got the idea to use double-sided tape between the plastics before punching and that helped quite a bit, although the holes are still not as clean as they could be. Anyway, I did manage to punch 4-5 pockets and bind them among the pages.
Here is the backcover with some more stamping, otherwise really plain. I didn't want to use too much embellies in the journal as it will be placed in a backpack and therefore can easily wear...
When I find a bit thicker plastic pockets, I may make few more of these journals in the future. This has not that many pages (only some 50 sheets) as I don't have bigger owires, but since the book is otherwise quite large (22x23cm) there is space for some memories... I think that A5 would be pretty ideal size for a journal like this, so I need to shop bigger owires and find more suitable plastic pockets. If somebody knows where to find those plastic pockets, please shout!
